Conservation Barred Owl House Unassembled Kit - Expand your birding knowledge with a fun project while providing barred owls a suitable dwelling with the Conservation Unassembled Barred Owl House. Barred owls do not build their own nests and are one of the few varieties of owl that will take to a man-made nesting box, making this generous home an ideal solution for their needs. This package of 7, easy-to-assemble panels is sustainably sourced from aged eastern pine, letting you personally construct this durable and naturally beautiful dwelling for these feathered friends. The front panel of the abode features a 6" diameter entry, while gaps at the corners of the base panel facilitate proper drainage for a comfortable interior. A pair of holes on each side panel allows additional ventilation, making sure the roost remains comfortable for fledgling owlets. Two bags of included wood chips let you create a proper nesting area for roosting owls while preventing their eggs from rolling around the inside of the house. The rough hewn texture of the pine lends fledglings extra grip as they enter and exit the roost, and a divided, latched side panel lets you easily clean the dwelling and observe nesting owls up close. Once assembled, this substantial unit should be situated 10' to 20' high up in a tree, with the entrance turned away from prevailing wind, for proper placement. The rustic appearance of the pine panels will naturally weather over time and with exposure to the elements, ensuring the home remains an inconspicuous option just as these owls prefer. Simply use the included hardware and clear instructions to construct the home with the pre-cut panels, letting you quickly and easily provide a fitting shelter for these feathered friends.
